The Evening Ferry by Gregory Smith

The Evening Ferry by Gregory Smith

This picture started out as a doodle on the side of a piece of paper when I was bored, but it was surprisingly enjoyable to try and transfer some quick scribbles into a detailed render, and I suppose it benifits from the focus on the large shapes first. Mostly, though, it was nice to get away from grass and trees for a bit (Nearly, anyway – the Grove and Graswald make their usual appearance in a few places) Created in Blender, with texturing split between Blender (partly using CMV materials), and Substance Painter. Paintovers and Compositing used Photoshop. I’ve included a breakdown video for this one as well.

Vertex count comes to a healthy 7,800,000 spread over 8 files.
