Tiny Worlds by Gregory Smith

Tiny Worlds by Gregory Smith

My entry to week 99 of the Weekly CG Challenge, ‘Tiny Worlds’. After only about half an hour, the idea of young discworlds came to mind (I am currenty re-reading Terry Pratchett’s series smiley ) In accordance with the usual laws of picture making, however, I only decided on a composition a few days before the deadline. Admittedly, they’re not exactly tiny, but it was a very fun scene to work on. It was also interesting for lacking an environment, which is my usual subject, and so I was able to work in a new way, focussing on creating believable characters, and letting me play with really high poly sculpting. All the texturing was painted in Blender, and the main challenge for this image was ensuring that the image worked cohesively in terms of realism, and I needed to make a fair few last minute changes, before and after rendering. In addition, I needed to learn digital painting pretty quickly for the background! It all goes to show how valuable taking part in the challenge is.
